Penthouse magazine, first published in the UK in March 1965, aimed to compete with Playboy. It boasted more explicit content, becoming the first widely sold men’s magazine to feature female pubic hair and full frontal nudity. The US edition launched in September 1969. The UK version ceased publication in 1999 and the US version in 2023.
