Slant

Slant was a short‑lived but distinctive small‑format magazine, published between 1973 and 1974 with a total run of just 17 issues. Well written and thoughtfully produced, it combined themed articles with an active letters section, offering readers a mix of commentary and community engagement. Although primarily focused on spanking‑related material, it occasionally touched on broader fetish interests and featured more written content than many of its contemporaries.
During the mid‑1970s the market was shifting toward larger, picture‑led publications, and Slant found itself competing directly with emerging titles such as Mentor and Janus. As production pressures increased, page counts fell and the letters section expanded, signalling the magazine’s gradual decline. What set Slant apart, however, was its striking artwork. All covers and internal illustrations were created by Rex.
