Utopian Press - Fads and Fancies

Utopian Press produced some very distinctive mid‑century fetish publications, led by editor and owner Benson Herbert. Originally a science‑fiction publisher, the company soon shifted to saucier one‑off magazine titles such as Carnival Capers, Sporty Stories, and Hubba Hubba.
Its standout fetish title, Fads and Fancies, emerged in 1950 and featured striking illustrations by Reina M. Bull (RMB/Janine). The magazines are known for their reader‑submitted letters and highly stylised artwork celebrating vintage fashion and adornment.
These early publications are now scarce and increasingly sought after by collectors.
