Wallace Wood and Sally Forth

Wallace Wood, an American comic book writer, artist, and independent publisher, gained recognition for his contributions to comic book titles like Weird Science, Weird Fantasy, and MAD Magazine. Wood also created and owned the enduring characters Sally Forth and Cannon. Sally Forth, an American comic strip, was conceived by Wallace Wood for a male military readership. The strip features a captivating action-adventure character, often portrayed in a nude state. The name “Sally Forth” cleverly plays on the phrase “to sally forth,” which means to leave or attack from a military encampment.
